The Good Friday event on 7th April 2023, Kiwamirembe Catholic Shrine hosted a day of reflection and prayer, led by Rev. Fr Kabanda Edward. It was a deeply moving and spiritual experience for all who attended. Throughout the day, different Fathers took turns to preach, sharing their insights and perspectives on the meaning of this special day.
One of the most powerful sermons was delivered by Rev. Fr. Aloysius Ddumba who thanked God for sending Jesus to die for our sins and emphasized the importance of gratitude and reflection on this day. He spoke about the gift of Mary, the mother of Jesus, and how she is a symbol of hope and comfort for all Catholics.
During his sermon, the preacher also highlighted the significance of our worship as Catholics, emphasizing that Good Friday is not a day of mourning but a day of celebration. He encouraged the participants to reflect on the love that Jesus showed for us through his sacrifice and to embrace this love in their daily lives.
As the day progressed, participants took part in the rosary, listened to spiritual talks and teachings, and walked the public way of the cross, reflecting on the journey that Jesus took towards his crucifixion. The veneration of the cross was a particularly powerful moment, as participants were reminded of the profound impact that Jesus’ death had on the world.
Throughout the event, participants were deeply engaged in the experience, and many spoke of feeling a renewed sense of connection to their faith. They left the event with a sense of gratitude and renewal, inspired by the words of the preachers and the powerful experiences they had shared together. The Good Friday event had provided them with a deeper understanding of the significance of this special day and a renewed commitment to live their lives in accordance with their faith.
